Because everyone Deserves Pain-Free Living

Doctors You trust / Therapy your body loves

At Lakeshore Integrative HealthCare, we believe that true healthcare is achieved through prevention, not reaction. But what does that mean, and why is that not being achieved with today's modern healthcare system? The answer is simple. In today's modern healthcare system, if the insurance companies don't pay for it, doctors aren't likely to recommend it.

LIH is different in that we are focused on one main goal... deliver the highest quality and individually personalized care to our patients. This goal is achieved through spending the time to get to know you, understanding your concerns, providing advanced testing, and exploring alternative options with the most advanced and highest-quality treatment available. Our top-rated doctors, physicians, and therapists have a strong commitment to you and the compassion to help you achieve your optimal health.

We ProvidE the following services:

NAPRAPATHY - A specialized system of health care that employs gentle hands-on manual therapy, holistic-based nutritional counseling and a wide variety of therapeutic modalities, including laser therapy, that corrects the imbalances and restrictions that can cause pain. Naprapathy focuses on conditions caused by contracted, injured, spasmed, bruised or otherwise impaired muscles, ligaments, fascia, tendons, and its effect on the entire musculoskeletal system.

A long-term study on the effects of Naprapathy on back and neck pain was published* and the evidence-based study revealed that the differences between the groups in terms of decrease of pain and disability over one year were statistically significant favoring naprapathy versus standard allopathic evidence-based advice.

Back and neck pain are very common, disabling and recurrent disorders in the general population and the knowledge of long-term effect of treatments are sparse. The aim of this study was to compare the long-term effects (up to one year) of naprapathic manual therapy and evidence-based advice on staying active regarding non-specific back and/or neck pain. Naprapathy is characterized by a combination of manual musculoskeletal manipulations, aiming to decrease pain and disability in the neuromusculoskeletal system.

PHOTOBIOSTIMULATION -   LIH employs the most advanced Class IV therapeutic laser that delivers specific red and near-infrared wavelengths of laser light to induce a photochemical reaction to enhance tissue healing and therapeutic effect to help reduce inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness, and pain. As the injured area returns to normal, function is restored and pain is relieved.

Laser therapy has been used in Europe since the 1970s and was cleared by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2004. During each painless treatment, laser energy increases circulation, drawing water, oxygen, and nutrients to the damaged area. During K-Laser therapy, infrared laser light interacts with tissues at the cellular level increasing metabolic activity within the cell.  By improving the transport of nutrients across the cell membrane, the increased production of cellular energy (ATP) is stimulated. The cascade of beneficial effects that follows includes the increased cellular function and tissue repair.

SPORTS MEDICINE - A branch of medicine that deals with physical fitness, treatment, and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise. Our medical doctors are all board-certified in Illinois.

PHYSICAL MEDICINE & REHABILITATION - Also known as physiatry, it is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physiatrists specialize in restoring optimal function to people with injuries of the muscles, bones, tissues, and nervous system. Specifically, PM&R physicians:

  • Treat patients of all ages
  • Focus treatment on function
  • Have a broad medical expertise that allows them to treat disabling conditions throughout a person’s lifetime
  • Diagnose and treat pain as a result of an injury, illness, or disabling condition
  • Determine and lead a treatment/prevention plan
  • Lead a team of medical professionals, which may include physical therapists, occupational therapists, and physician extenders to optimize patient care
  • Work with other physicians, which may include primary care physicians, neurologists, orthopedic surgeons, and many others.
  • Treat the whole person, not just the problem area

PHYSICAL THERAPY - a health care profession primarily concerned with the remediation of impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention. Our primary physical therapist is a doctor of physical therapy and board certified.

NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING - focuses on helping clients understand foods and their role in preventative nutrition. Nutritionists advise their patients on how diet affects health, well-being, disease prevention, health promotion and weight loss. Our focus is holistic based functional medicine - in other words, using food and natural products from the earth as the ultimate medicine.

ACUPUNCTURE - is a collection of procedures involving inserting needles into the body to stimulate classic Traditional Chinese Medicine points to correct the imbalance in the flow of qi through channels known as meridians. All our acupuncturists are Illinois licensed.

MASSAGE THERAPY - massage is the manipulation of the superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using various techniques to enhance function and assist in the healing process, decrease muscle reflex activity, inhibit motor-neuron excitability, and to promote relaxation and well being. All our therapists are Illinois licensed and certified.
